A teeny bit about me

Hello! My name is Katie Kane and I’m a NY/NJ-based theatre artist. I graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in Theatre Studies, but my love for performing started long before that. I was two years old when I took my first ballet class, and I’ve been chasing the stage ever since.

At seven, I was cast in Camelot, and that show was the beginning of everything—the moment I fell in love with musical theatre and accidentally started costuming. A year later, the entire third grade was forced into the school choir, where we sang “Rainbow Connection” at the winter concert. I’ve been singing in choirs ever since. (Well—except for that one year I tried violin in orchestra. We don’t talk about it. But I can still read music!)

I’ve trained in ballet, musical theatre, choral singing, and a cappella, and I’ve performed in everything from Shakespeare to splashy musicals to children’s theatre and concert work. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of performing in regional productions, working with new play development, directing youth theatre, and even producing concerts at iconic NYC venues like Feinstein’s/54 Below.

Creatively, I’ve always liked to have my hands in everything—writing, directing, performing, producing, costuming, stage managing—whatever keeps the spark alive. My training and experience have shaped me into a very organized chaos generator who knows how to keep a cast on schedule, a costume rack in order, and a harmony locked in tight.

These days, I find joy in expressing myself however I can—onstage, behind the scenes, or dreaming up the next project. Telling stories, collaborating with artists I love, and creating something from nothing is what keeps me going.

Peace x Love,
Katie
